HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Zariouh
In his interview with HIBAPRESS, Yasser Tiziti, the First Vice-President of the Nador municipality, reviewed the developments the city has witnessed in terms of cleanliness. Tiziti confirmed that Nador has seen a noticeable improvement in this sector since the beginning of the municipality's term, where significant efforts have been made to improve the level of cleanliness in the streets and alleys. However, despite this progress, there are still major challenges facing cleaning services in the city recently.
Tiziti explained that one of the most prominent of these challenges is the clear decline in services provided by the company delegated to manage the cleaning sector this summer. He pointed out that the main reason for this decline is due to the deteriorated condition of the company's equipment, as it turned out after his personal inspection that about 70% of this equipment is unusable. Tiziti added that the company delegated to manage the cleaning does not show any intention to renew or repair the damaged equipment, even though the contract between the municipality and the company extends until January 2027. Despite these obstacles, Tiziti confirmed that the municipality will remain responsible to the residents for the quality of services, which requires rapid action at various levels. In the context of his efforts to improve the situation, Tiziti suggested forming a special committee headed by the head of the municipality, Souleiman Azouagh, to follow up on the company's work and closely monitor the quality of cleaning services. He explained that this committee will be tasked with monitoring the company's work periodically, especially during peak periods such as summer and Eid al-Adha, when the amount of waste in the city increases significantly. Tiziti also stressed the need for all parties to contribute to improving the level of services. Although the primary responsibility for following up on the delegated company lies with the Inter-Municipal Cooperation Institution, the residents consider the Nador municipality to be the first party responsible for providing these services, which requires the elected officials to take field action to closely monitor the situation. On the other hand, Tiziti revealed that the Inter-Municipal Cooperation Institution has launched a tender to select a new study office to evaluate cleaning services and prepare a more accurate terms of reference for the next deal. He affirmed that this evaluation will be an important step towards improving the terms of the contract and ensuring that the service provided meets the aspirations of Nador residents. In conclusion, Tiziti called on the members of the council to contribute their ideas and suggestions to improve cleaning services. He confirmed that each member of the council knows the flaws in the neighborhoods they represent, and therefore their participation will contribute significantly to improving reality and providing a better service to citizens.
