The "Al Maa Dialna" platform, affiliated with the Ministry of Equipment and Water, revealed that the Water Basin Agency of Oum Er-Rbia is working on strengthening the controlled and safe use of treated wastewater, in order to preserve the environment and ensure the sustainability of water resources.

Reducing the Water Deficit in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra Region
These efforts are part of a strategy aimed at reducing pressure on traditional resources and reducing the water deficit experienced by the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.

The region has significant potential in the field of reuse of treated water, estimated at about twenty-one million cubic meters annually, which reflects its important qualifications in this vital field.

In this context, a number of projects are being implemented for the reuse of treated wastewater for industrial purposes in partnership with the Office Chérifien des Phosphates group, and include several cities in the region.

In the city of Fkih Ben Salah, the completion rate of the wastewater treatment plant reached about 99%, with a production capacity of up to five and a half million cubic meters annually, and a total cost of seven hundred and thirty-seven million dirhams.

Treated Wastewater, an Alternative Resource
As for the city of Kasba Tadla, the construction of a plant with a production capacity of two million and two hundred thousand cubic meters per year has been completed, at a cost of three hundred and four million dirhams, and with a complete completion rate.

In the city of Beni Mellal, a channel with a length of forty kilometers was established, in addition to a tertiary treatment unit at the local station, with a production capacity of up to nine million cubic meters annually, and a cost of four hundred and ninety-four million dirhams, with a completion rate of one hundred percent.

In the city of Khouribga, the expansion work of the treatment plant continues with a production capacity of five and a half million cubic meters per year, and a total cost of four hundred and ninety-five million dirhams, and the progress rate of the works has reached 88%.

These projects confirm the strategic vision aimed at making treated wastewater an alternative and sustainable resource that contributes to strengthening water security in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, and establishes an integrated model in the management of water resources according to a balanced environmental and economic approach.

The latest data issued by the Office Chérifien des Phosphates during July of the year 2025 indicate that the completion rates of these projects are proceeding according to the schedule set for them.
