HIBAPRESS – Agadir
The curtain fell today, Sunday, October 26, 2025, on the activities of the first edition of the "Ironman" 70.3 race in the city of Agadir, after a day full of challenge and excitement, in which more than two thousand male and female athletes from around the world participated, representing more than forty countries, in addition to a select group of Moroccan athletes.
This international sporting event, which is organized for the first time in the capital of the Souss-Massa region, was distinguished by strong competition between the participants in three main stages: swimming for a distance of 1.9 kilometers, cycling over a distance of approximately 90 kilometers, and then running for a distance of 21 kilometers. The course extended through the Gulf of Agadir and its neighboring areas, which allowed the contestants the opportunity to discover the beauty and natural and cultural diversity of the city, amidst a well-organized atmosphere that attracted the attention of visitors and tourists. The event witnessed the organization of a number of parallel activities, including the "Iron Kids" children's race and "The Fun Run" race dedicated to supporting women with breast cancer, as part of the celebration of Pink October, in addition to the opening of the Ironman Village on the Agadir Corniche, which hosted spaces for exhibitors, partners, and entertainment and rest areas for visitors. Said Amzazi, the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, the governor of the prefecture of Agadir Ida Outanane, supervised the official start of this international sporting event, in the presence of official figures and guests from within and outside Morocco, and representatives of the security and local authorities and the media. The organization of the "Ironman 70.3" race in Agadir is a prominent stop in the city's path towards enhancing its position as a global destination for sports and tourism, due to the natural qualifications and advanced infrastructure that qualify it to host major international events. These initiatives also contribute to promoting the city internationally, and making it a favorite destination for sports and adventure enthusiasts, especially in light of Morocco's readiness to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.
