Thousands of Moroccans launched the hashtag “The Sahara in its Morocco” on social media, in a large digital campaign before the expected vote in the UN Security Council on the Moroccan Sahara issue, turning the platforms into a national space vibrant with interaction and belonging.
Participants in the hashtag circulated photos and videos documenting life in the cities of Laayoune, Dakhla, and Boujdour, confirming that the Sahara was and will remain an integral part of Moroccan territory, and that the connection of the population to the land reflects the depth of history and the unity of destiny. The digital campaign carried a clear political message to the international community, stating that the national consensus on the Moroccan Sahara is firm and established, and that Moroccan public opinion stands united behind the Moroccan initiative for autonomy, at a time when the influence of the "Polisario" front is declining within the UN corridors.
