The Paraguayan House of Representatives welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which supports Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara.
A statement from the Moroccan Embassy in Asuncion, received by the Moroccan News Agency, indicated that this position was affirmed in a resolution of the House of Representatives that reaffirms its support for the Kingdom's sovereignty over its Sahara. In this resolution, the same source adds, the Paraguayan House of Representatives joins the UN Security Council "for full support of the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to facilitate and conduct negotiations between all parties on the basis of the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty." The resolution also praised the appeal made by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the residents of the Tindouf camps to seize this historic opportunity to reunite with their families, as well as His Majesty's call to the Algerian President to hold a sincere brotherly dialogue between Morocco and Algeria in order to build new relations based on trust, fraternal ties and good neighborliness. The Paraguayan House of Representatives also called on "all concerned parties to engage in this positive dynamic, and to be responsible and show political will with the aim of benefiting from the current international dynamics in favor of peace, stability and regional prosperity." The Council concluded by reaffirming its firm and steadfast support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its full national sovereignty over its Sahara, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter, and in respect of the national unity of States.
