HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The National Highway Company of Morocco announced on Friday morning the opening of the Sidi Maarouf interchange after its rehabilitation, for the benefit of motorway users coming from Rabat and Mohammedia via the Casablanca bypass and heading towards Mohammed V Airport and the city of Marrakech.
The company explained in a statement, a copy of which was received by HIBAPRESS, that this project is an important step in modernizing the road infrastructure, as it combines aesthetics and technical innovation, through an advanced technical facility and new-generation safety equipment. The new interchange extends over 1.2 kilometers and has been designed according to precise engineering standards that ensure smooth traffic flow and quality of mobility, in line with the best international specifications. This axis aims to organize traffic coming from the north and relieve pressure on the existing routes, which contributes to reducing travel time and improving the level of safety. The project includes a curved bridge with a length of 300 meters, which is distinguished by a sophisticated engineering design that relies on curved panels and columns in the shape of a "mushroom", in addition to a modern lighting system that is used for the first time on the motorway network, providing greater safety and visual appeal to the place. A new standard for protection systems has also been adopted along the interchange, keeping pace with the latest requirements for rigidity, performance and maintenance to ensure better protection for road users. This project comes within the framework of the rehabilitation of the Sidi Maarouf interchange, which is considered a key exchange point linking the Casablanca bypass and the Casablanca-Berrechid motorway. The works include the construction of 8 technical facilities, the expansion of road axes to 5×2 lanes, in addition to new entrances to enhance the absorption capacity. This achievement represents an additional stage in the strategic vision of the National Highway Company of Morocco, which aims to modernize the national network, raise the level of safety, and facilitate mobility in the economic capital and beyond.
