American singer Billie Eilish sparked controversy on social media after her frank attack on billionaires, especially Elon Musk, accusing him of not using his immense wealth to serve urgent humanitarian causes.
During the "Wall Street Journal" Innovator Awards ceremony, Eilish delivered a shocking message: "If you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? I don't mean hate, but donate your money, you slackers," in a statement that re-highlighted the gap between wealth and humanitarian duty. The singer did not stop there, but used Instagram to clarify Musk's enormous potential in addressing global problems such as hunger, providing clean water, and vaccinating children, stressing that he could allocate billions annually to these goals, but he focuses his wealth on his personal projects. Musk's response came quickly and sharply via "X", where he wrote: "She's not the smartest person in the world", which sparked a wave of reactions, between supporters of Eilish and those rejecting her view. The audience reacted quickly, confirming that her message raises a fundamental question: Do billionaires bear greater responsibility towards humanity, especially with the huge resources available to them?
