The number of beneficiaries of the salary increase, in accordance with the results of the social dialogue, will reach 1.127 million civil servants for a total cost of 45 billion dirhams by 2026, said Thursday the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.
During a press briefing following the Government Council, Mr. Baitas indicated that this increase in salaries will result in an increase in the wage bill from year to year, noting that the minimum net monthly salary in the public sector has increased from 3,000 to 4,500 dirhams, an increase of 50%.
The results of the social dialogue also concern, he recalled, the abolition of scale 7 for civil servants belonging to the categories of administrative assistants and technical assistants, as well as the revision of income tax, the increase in the promotion quota in the grade and the approval of several measures for the benefit of education personnel.
The Minister Delegate considered, in the same context, that “the effort made by the government stems from its conviction that the social state project is integrated, in the sense that it targets vulnerable populations benefiting from the medical coverage and social assistance system as well as the category of civil servants and employees.”
Mr. Baitas stressed, in this regard, that “the results of the social dialogue reflect the government’s desire to strengthen the economic and human rights aspects through projects and measures that have an impact on citizens.”
