Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, the President of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), affirmed in Marrakech on Friday that hosting the 93rd session of the General Assembly reflects international recognition of the role Morocco plays in enhancing global security.
During a press conference, Al-Raisi said that organizing this event between November 24 and 27 embodies Morocco's continuous presence within international forums related to security, stressing that the Kingdom adopts a clear approach to police cooperation and considers security a joint effort that cannot be fragmented. He noted that the choice of Marrakech reflects the position Morocco holds within Interpol and its continuous support for the organization's programs and initiatives. He added that Morocco's location at the intersection of Africa, the Arab world, and Europe gives it a pivotal role in enhancing security communication between continents. Al-Raisi explained that hosting this international event comes in a global context characterized by escalating challenges of cybersecurity and cross-border crime, highlighting Morocco's strong presence in joint security operations within Africa and its role in training and supporting the capabilities of African countries as the Vice President of Interpol for the continent. He affirmed that the organization admires the progress Morocco is making in the security field at regional and international levels, congratulating the Kingdom on organizing the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup. Al-Raisi also reviewed the most prominent results of Interpol's term in recent years, including the expansion of joint databases, the development of international cooperation mechanisms, the increase in the volume of field operations, and the enhancement of women's representation within administrative bodies. The Interpol General Assembly is the highest decision-making body within the organization and is held annually to make decisions related to public policies and international security cooperation, and it is also the largest gathering of law enforcement leaders around the world.
