HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ouldali
The Primary Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima is expected to issue its verdicts this evening, Monday, in the case of the events that occurred in the city of Imzouren on the second and third of last October, after a lengthy session dedicated to discussing the case and defense pleadings.
Nine defendants, who were present in custody and supported by a defense team, are appearing before the judicial body. They were arrested immediately after the events that the region witnessed, which were interspersed with acts described as dangerous, including an attack on the judicial dam of national security, intentionally setting fire to vehicles and transporters, and placing barricades in the public road with the aim of obstructing traffic, sabotage, and disabling property allocated for public benefit. They were also accused of insulting public officials and members of the public forces during the performance of their duties, using violence against them, and participating in an armed gathering at night. During the session, which witnessed a significant attendance of citizens, the head of the body confirmed the accusations against the followers as stated in the minutes of the judicial police, noting that the accused denied their participation in the protests or their involvement in the actions attributed to them, denying any connection to acts of throwing or violence. After completing the hearing of all parties and defense pleadings, it was decided to reserve the file for deliberation, pending the pronouncement of the verdict in one of the most cases that have captured the attention of local public opinion in recent weeks.
