The Moroccan Cinema Center will support a selection of ten cinematic projects in development and post-production, of various types, during the 76th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, where the Kingdom will be the guest of honor at the European Film Market scheduled from February 12 to 18, 2026.
A statement from the Center stated that this initiative, which includes producers distinguished by artistic approaches and promising production visions, will give these projects a strategic presentation opportunity within the European Film Market, one of the most influential markets in the global film industry, which supports professional meetings in the fields of co-production, distribution, international sales, and financing mechanisms. The same source explained that this participation reflects international recognition of the vitality of Moroccan cinema, the maturity of its visual writings, and the growing dynamism of its professionals on the global stage. The Center mentioned that the call for project submissions was officially launched within the framework of the National Film Festival, which was held in Tangier between October 17 and 25, 2025, noting that the filing period extended from October 25 to November 24, 2025, after which ten projects meeting the artistic, narrative, and professional requirements of the FOCUS MAROC – EFM 2026 program were selected. The same source revealed that the ten selected producers are: Karim Debbagh (Kasbah Films), Maryam Adou (Iris Production), Oumaima Zakri Ajrai (Seven Shots), Faisal El Kadiri (Cygnus Productions), Ilham Raouf (Abel Aflam), Alaeddine El Jem (Le Moindre Geste), Lotfi Oukhiar (Azir Productions), Rachida Saadi (JanaProd), Lamia Chraibi (La Prod), and Khadija Alami (K Films). The selected projects will benefit from individual professional support, including the possibility of presenting the project within the framework of the European Film Market, through benefiting from meetings with international experts, as well as integration into the professional network within the market. Their integration into the official program of the European Film Market will also constitute a crucial platform for international exposure and circulation, which enhances the presence of Moroccan cinema within the global system of creativity and production. The statement concluded that through this initiative, the Moroccan Cinema Center reaffirms its commitment to supporting the emergence of a competitive and high-performing national cinematic system, and highlighting Moroccan filmmakers and talents in the most prominent international professional events.
