Morocco and the United Nations agree to continue dialogue on the political process in Libya

The Acting Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya, Stephanie Williams, said today in Rabat that Morocco and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya have agreed to continue dialogue regarding the political process in Libya.

Williams said in a statement to the press after talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita: “We agreed to continue the dialogue and discuss how to advance the political process in Libya under the auspices of the United Nations for the Libyan people.”

The UN official stressed that the discussions with Bourita were also “a good opportunity to discuss the complexities in Libya and the needs of the Libyan people, as well as the importance of advancing the political process in Libya,” adding that these issues are priorities for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

Williams said his working visit to Morocco marks the first step in his visits to countries in the region to discuss ways to find a solution to the political crisis in Libya.
