Morocco and Burkina Faso reaffirmed, on Wednesday, their determination to strengthen their bilateral cooperation and make Moroccan-Burkinabe partnership relations, which are multi-dimensional, an exceptional model for South-South African cooperation.

In the joint statement, issued in Ouagadougou, following the talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Burkinabe counterpart, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, the two ministers praised the deep, distinguished bonds of traditional brotherhood between the Moroccan and Burkinabe peoples and the mutual respect between King Mohammed VI and his brother, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, Head of State.

This meeting enabled both sides, on the one hand, to engage in talks on new areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries, such as air services, transport, and infrastructure, and on the other hand, to begin signing several legal instruments relating, among other things, to security, trade, labor, housing, transport, agriculture, training, and youth.

Bourita and Traore also affirmed the joint will to make Moroccan-Burkinabe partnership relations, which are multi-dimensional, an exceptional model for South-South African cooperation, and their determination to strengthen and diversify bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic and commercial fields.

In this regard, the two ministers praised the steady pace of fruitful cooperation that benefits both parties, as well as the prospects for diversifying and strengthening this partnership in promising sectors such as security-defense, transport, training, agriculture, food security, and health.

They also took this opportunity to commend the progress made and the level of implementation of the commitments of the fourth session of the Joint Moroccan-Burkinabe Cooperation Committee, which was held in Ouagadougou in June 2023, reaffirming their commitment to continue strengthening the momentum generated by the important legal framework that culminated in this session.
