Tomorrow at 02:00 in the morning, Copa América Final: Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced his intention to declare a public holiday in the event of a victory for the cafeteros against Messi’s Albiceleste

HIBAPRESS-RABAT
Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced his intention to declare a public holiday if the cafeteros win the Copa América, on Sunday night (2am). This would be only the second trophy for the country, after 2001.
A victory against Argentina in the final of the competition played in the United States “will be celebrated with a civic day that we consider a day of unity for the Colombian people,” the leftist president said in a video.
Unbeaten in 28 matches, Colombia dreams aloud of winning the second Copa America in its history, having only reached the final twice, losing in 1975 and winning in 2001 against Mexico.
A success on a continental scale that would bring comfort to a population still struggling with armed conflict in certain provinces and with a high level of poverty.
“The Colombian team is a symbol of unity, not violence, not polarization,” Petro said.
On Wednesday, Colombians celebrated in their thousands in the streets the victory in the semi-final against Uruguay (1-0).
The country is dreaming of reliving the emotions of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where their team reached the quarter-finals.
