Bank card hacking: 5 people arrested in Fez

Elements of the regional brigade of the judicial police of Fez, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance, succeeded yesterday, Friday March 15, in arresting five people aged between 18 and 27 years old, suspected of being linked to a criminal network active in the field of cybercrime, in particular the manipulation of computer systems for processing banking data, as well as fraud.

The suspects were apprehended during simultaneous security operations carried out in the cities of Meknes and Fez, following investigations carried out following an advisory from the national security services concerning the detection of the Moroccan banking system at unknown individuals carrying out purchases and commercial transactions using foreign bank card data, fraudulently obtained via the internet.

Searches carried out in the homes of those arrested led to the seizure of a series of bank hacking devices, computers and mobile phones containing digital traces of this criminal activity, as well as receipts for various financial transactions, ranging from from purchasing personal items to renting cars and booking hotel rooms, all done with the hacked data.

The suspects were placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, pending the discovery of all the circumstances of this case, as well as the identification of all criminal offenses attributable to the persons concerned.
