HIBAPRESS – Rabat
American journalist Simon Hughes considered that Moroccans have an opinion on everything in football, after watching the "Atlas Lions" match against Zambia, from a hotel in Marrakech.
This impression came within a report written by Hughes published by the "New York Times", highlighting the atmosphere of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, and the interaction of Moroccans with the continental tournament. The American journalist said in the report, which also highlighted the atmosphere of the "CAN" in the stadium, cafes and fan zones: "Even if you don't speak Arabic, you realize that they have an opinion on almost everything." Hughes explained that his impression, which he recorded based on his viewing of the match in a cafe in a hotel on the outskirts of the old city of Marrakech, is based on the fact that "there is a reaction to every touch of the ball and every decision made by the coach or the referee."
