Commerce: 34% of wholesalers expect an increase in sales

The expectations of 34% of wholesalers show an increase in the overall volume of sales for the 1st quarter of 2024, and a decrease for 10% of them, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

This development would be mainly attributable to the expected increase in sales in “Other specialized wholesale trade”, “Wholesale trade of information and communication equipment” and “Wholesale trade of household goods” and to the expected drop in sales in the “Wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and live animals”, explains the HCP in its information note on the quarterly business surveys carried out among companies operating in the non-financial market services sectors and wholesale trade.

Orders planned for the first quarter of 2024 would be at a normal level according to 80% of business leaders, specifies the same source, adding that employment would see stable numbers according to 82% of wholesalers, and an increase according to 16%. .

In the 4th quarter of 2023, sales in the Wholesale sector on the local market would have experienced stability according to 59% of wholesalers, and an increase according to 23%.

This development would be mainly attributable to the increase in sales in “Wholesale of other industrial equipment” and “Wholesale of information and communication equipment” and to the drop in sales in “Trade wholesale of domestic goods.

Employment would have been stable according to 79% of business leaders and an increase for 16% of them.

Regarding stocks of goods, they were at a normal level according to 80% of wholesalers and the observed trend in sales prices showed stability for 53% of business leaders and an increase for 33% of them. .
