The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, made a field visit to the Rehamna province, in the Marrakech-Safi region, dedicated to launching a series of solidarity agriculture projects, particularly concerning livestock farming and the development of agroforestry, within the framework of efforts to reconstitute the national herd and strengthen sustainable production systems.
During this visit, the Minister oversaw the launch of an important solidarity agriculture project for livestock farming at the Bouchane territorial commune, with a financial envelope estimated at 55.16 million dirhams, benefiting more than 3,000 farmers and livestock breeders in the province.
This project includes the distribution of 4,160 heads of sheep of the Sardi breed, in addition to establishing 21 units for the production of sprouted barley, and rehabilitating pastures on an area of approximately 500 hectares, as well as establishing 25 water points dedicated to watering livestock. The project also includes training and technical support programs for the beneficiaries, with the aim of improving productivity and ensuring the sustainability of the activity.
This project falls within an integrated regional offer that includes 15 solidarity agriculture projects, with a total budget exceeding 160 million dirhams, benefiting more than 10,150 livestock breeders in the Marrakech-Safi region.
At the same territorial commune level, the Minister launched the first phase of an agroforestry development project, which extends over an area of 500 hectares, and is based on adopting companion crops that are compatible with the climatic and environmental characteristics of the region, including cactus and the Qatif plant.
This project is part of a broader agroforestry program in the Rehamna province, covering a total area of 5,000 hectares, with a budget estimated at 80 million dirhams, from which more than 1,000 small farmers are expected to benefit.
These projects, at the level of the Marrakech-Safi region, confirm the pivotal role played by solidarity agriculture as a lever for rural development, and a means of reviving production systems capable of withstanding climate change.
By 2030, the region seeks to implement 130 projects within the framework of solidarity agriculture, for the benefit of about 130,000 beneficiaries, with a total financial envelope of approximately 2.36 billion dirhams, which enhances food security and supports social and economic stability in the rural world.
