HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The withdrawal of batches of infant formula from international markets has reopened the debate about the safety of this product, especially among Moroccan families who feared potential repercussions on the health of infants, in light of the circulation of various news about the subject.
During the Second African Congress of Pediatrics, Professor Olivier Clarisse presented a detailed scientific presentation in which he addressed the role of oligosaccharides and their relationship to intestinal diseases, immunity, and infectious diseases, highlighting the differences between breast milk and manufactured infant formula, as well as the impact of natural and cesarean delivery methods on the microbial balance in infants. The same expert reviewed the results of comparative studies conducted in a number of countries, showing that the available scientific data do not indicate any risk to the Moroccan market, and confirming that the withdrawal of some batches was a precautionary measure and limited to specific samples.
