HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Residents of a residential complex in Sidi Rahhal have appealed to the Attorney General, demanding a financial audit of financial files valued at over 7 billion dirhams, following the discovery of numerous irregularities in the management of the complex by the current syndic.
The residents, most of whom live abroad and returned to invest in residential units for their children, explained that the complex's budget since 2015 has exceeded 70 million dirhams, and no official sealed documents or clear contracts have been presented regarding the disbursement of funds. One resident said: "Everything is done via WhatsApp messages without any transparency, and when we requested a review by a financial expert, we did not receive cooperation."
The residents pointed to several difficulties in communicating with the current syndic, who has been overseeing the complex since 2019, stressing that general assemblies are held at inconvenient times for the residents to attend, and judicial rulings requiring the presentation of accounts and the follow-up of the complex's files have been ignored.
The residents also highlighted problems related to basic facilities, such as water meters, where owners are required to pay unjustified additional amounts for connecting the meters to their names, and many of them have still not obtained a meter in their name despite ongoing legal proceedings for years.
The residents explained that all legal efforts have been exhausted without obtaining clear answers, which prompted them to resort to the judiciary and request the appointment of financial, real estate, and technical experts to clarify all financial and technical operations within the complex.
The residents demanded accountability for those responsible for the management, stressing that their demand is not limited to recovering financial rights only, but also includes ensuring transparency and accountability in the future management of the complex.
