The Moroccan media family, along with all those following national sports affairs, received the news of the death of the esteemed journalist Najib Salmi, the former president of the Moroccan Association of Sports Journalism, with great sadness and sorrow, in a real loss for a professional figure who has shaped the media scene for decades of giving.
With the departure of the deceased, sports media loses one of its influential voices that remained faithful to the values and ethics of the profession, as Najib Salmi was known for his balanced writings, his deep critical vision, and his ability to dissect sports issues with a responsible spirit, away from sensationalism or bias.
The deceased was not just a journalist who conveyed news, but an informed analyst of national sports issues, close to their concerns, keen to link them to their general societal context, which earned him the respect of his colleagues and the trust of readers and followers alike. His integrity and independence also constituted a prominent feature in his career, making his name synonymous with credibility and professionalism.
During his professional experience, especially through his work with the newspaper “Al-Ra’i – L’Opinion”, Najib Salmi contributed to the advancement of journalistic treatment of sports, and left his own mark in dealing with major files in a sober and balanced manner, putting the interest of national sports above all else.
The departure of Najib Salmi does not only mean the absence of an experienced journalist, but the absence of a school in commitment and responsibility, and a media memory that will remain present in the conscience of the profession. May God have mercy on the deceased, grant him paradise, and inspire his family, relatives and colleagues with patience and solace. Indeed, to God we belong, and to Him we shall return.
