As part of the early preparations to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH / 2026 AD, the Governor of Taza Province, Rachid Benchikhi, chaired on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the prefecture headquarters, an expanded coordination meeting dedicated to monitoring the supply of markets and prices, in the presence of members of the Regional Mixed Committee for Vigilance and Market Supply.
This meeting comes in implementation of the High Royal Directives aimed at protecting the purchasing power of citizens, ensuring the availability of essential goods and the regular supply of markets, as well as in line with the conclusions of the coordination meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior. A proactive and field monitoring program During this meeting, emphasis was placed on adopting a proactive approach by preparing a special work program for the regional and local mixed committees, which includes intensive field tours of various wholesale and retail outlets, and weekly markets, with the aim of verifying the availability of the most consumed essential goods during the month of Ramadan, and ensuring respect for quality and health safety conditions. These operations also aim to ensure the validity of the materials offered for consumption, and that traders respect the regulated and subsidized prices, and display prices clearly, in a way that guarantees the protection of consumer rights and the preservation of the health and safety of citizens. Firmness in the face of speculation and fraud The regional authority affirmed that the specialized monitoring committees, under the direct supervision of the governor of the province, will deal with strictness and firmness with all manifestations of speculation, monopoly, secret hoarding, fraud, and price manipulation, in addition to combating the phenomenon of multiple intermediaries and illegal commercial practices that would disrupt the normal functioning of the markets. Continuous monitoring throughout the year These operations fall within a permanent and continuous program throughout the year that aims to ensure a regular supply of markets, in coordination with various sectors, interests, and relevant institutions, in addition to economic actors, with monitoring of any potential imbalance in supply, distribution, or competition rules, and intervening to address it with the required speed and efficiency. Awareness and communication campaigns Considering the importance of the communication aspect, the monitoring bodies will work to organize awareness campaigns for professionals and consumers, in partnership with consumer protection associations, in order to consolidate a citizen and responsible commercial culture, that ensures a balance between the interests of traders and the rights of consumers. A permanent cell and a green number for reporting In the context of strengthening the vigilance mechanisms, it was decided to establish a permanent cell at the level of the Taza Province prefecture throughout the month of Ramadan, with the allocation of the green number 5757 to enable citizens to report any violations related to prices or illegal commercial practices, with a commitment to quickly interact with them and take appropriate measures. The regional authority also affirmed its full readiness, through the comprehensive mobilization of the various committees, to intervene immediately in order to open and maintain road axes and rural paths that may be affected by rainfall, snowfall, and cold waves that the province is experiencing.
