HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs circulated the Friday sermon for today to various mosque preachers in the Kingdom, which was chosen to be on the topic of the approach of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in fulfilling the trust of the Quran, and it came as follows:
The First Sermon
Praise be to Allah, who created man, taught him eloquence, and sent down from his books what showed him the way to Paradise. We praise Him for guiding us to this, and we would not have been guided if Allah had not guided us. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner, and we bear witness that our master Muhammad is His servant and messenger, His beloved from His creation and His friend. May Allah bless and grant him peace, and bless his good and pure family, and his companions, the righteous and the chosen, and those who followed them with good as long as the night and day continue.
As for what follows; O brothers and sisters in faith, the Almighty says in His firm revelation:
﴿O mankind, there has come to you a good advice from your Lord and a healing for that [disease] which is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers﴾[1].
Servants of Allah; within the framework of the "Plan for Strengthening the Propagation" and in accordance with the directives of the "Lofty Royal Message" calling for attention to the trusts of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned in His saying, may He be glorified:
﴿It is He who has sent among the unlettered a messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although they were before in manifest error﴾[2],
This sermon comes to talk about the approach of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in fulfilling these trusts? And how did the noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, receive them from him? That is in order to follow and be guided by them in combining knowledge and action, starting with the first of these trusts, the Book of Allah, the Most High, "the Noble Quran."
It is known that the Noble Quran began to be revealed to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, little by little, and the wisdom behind that is for the Companions to be able to comprehend it and act upon it. Allah says:
﴿And [it is] a Qur’an which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively﴾[3].
Also, Allah guaranteed its preservation and explanation for the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, and He said, may His glory be exalted:
﴿Do not move your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with it. Indeed, upon Us is its collection and [its] recitation. So when We have recited it, then follow its recitation. Then upon Us is its explanation.﴾[4].
Al-Bukhari narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to deal with (i.e., suffer) the revelation severely, fearing the loss of the Quran from him, so Allah revealed this verse, and the meaning of
﴿Indeed, upon Us is its collection﴾
means; gathering it for you in your chest and reciting it, and the meaning of
﴿So when We have recited it, then follow its recitation.﴾
means; listen to it and listen attentively, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, after that, used to listen to Gabriel, peace be upon him, with the attentiveness of the recipient and the humility of the worshiper, until he finished reciting, then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would recite it as if it were engraved in his chest. [5], then he would call one of the scribes of the revelation, who were many, approaching forty, and he would dictate it to them, and they would write it.
Then after that, these verses that were revealed would be the place of publication, application, and action, so no other verses would be revealed to him except that everyone would hasten to act upon what was revealed, so they combined knowledge and action, memorization and understanding, recitation and purification…
The great Companion Abdullah bin Omar, may Allah be pleased with them both, embodies this approach: as he says, “We have lived a long time, and one of us was given faith before the Quran, then the Surah was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, so he would learn its lawful and unlawful, its commands and prohibitions, and what he should stop at from it. Then I saw men who were given the Quran before faith, so they would read what was between the opening of the Book to its conclusion, without knowing its commands or its prohibitions, nor what they should stop at from it, and they would scatter it like the scattering of the date stones.”[6]. Meaning; he throws it as the bad fruit is thrown.
So this great Companion recounts their situation with the Quran; that they were given faith before the Quran, meaning that they believed in their Lord and submitted to His command and prohibition, and they were freed from their desires, so they were fully prepared to receive the revelation and act upon it, verse by verse, and Surah by Surah. And Abdullah bin Omar, may Allah be pleased with him, complains about people in the last of his life, and he died in the year seventy-three of the Hijra, that they were given the Quran before faith was established in their hearts, so they memorized the entire Quran, but they did not learn its lawful and unlawful, nor did they stop at its commands and prohibitions.
And so, servants of Allah; our master Abdullah bin Omar, may Allah be pleased with them both, clarifies that the lesson is in action and application, not in mere memorization of verses and their repetition on the tongue. Knowing that memorization and recitation have a great virtue and a generous reward.
May Allah bless me and you in the Noble Quran, and grant us success in acting upon what is in it of verses, clear proofs, and wise remembrance, and the last of our call is that praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
The Second Sermon
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon the noblest of the messengers, our master Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions.
Servants of Allah; This is how the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his noble Companions lived with the Quran and dealt with it, reciting, pondering, acting, and spreading it, and they were in a state of extreme happiness and feeling of the Quranic care for them, waiting for its revelations in all their circumstances, rejoicing in what it brings of solutions to their problems, and fatwas for their questions, and evaluation of their behavior, for twenty-three years of revelation, and when the Almighty said in the position of Arafat:
﴿This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion﴾[7],
A group of the noble Companions cried, and they were told: Why are you crying when Allah has completed His favor upon us? They said: We cry because of the interruption of the news of the sky.
Servants of Allah; If the Noble Quran is complete in terms of revelation, it is the rope of Allah extended between the sky and the earth until the Day of Judgment, and it is guidance and clear light, and healing for what is in the breasts, whoever acts upon it will be saved, and whoever calls to it will be guided to a straight path, and the nation will remain in goodness as long as it adheres to it, and our country, praise be to Allah, is the country of religion and the Quran, preserving the Quran and protected by it, and our master, the Commander of the Faithful, may Allah protect him, has called for more care for this honor and virtue, in imitation of the fathers and grandfathers, and an extension of the good from the best of the righteous predecessors to the best of the righteous successors.
This, and may you bless and grant peace to the one on whose heart the Quran was revealed to be a bearer of good tidings and a warner to the worlds, the one sent as a mercy and a radiant lamp, our master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. O Allah, bless and grant peace to our master Muhammad, whenever the rememberers remember You and him, and the heedless forget Your remembrance and his remembrance. And may Allah be pleased with the rightly guided caliphs who gathered the Quran in memorization and action, and those who preserved its letters in pages and in the Mushaf, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman, and Ali, and with the rest of the Companions from the Muhajireen and the Ansar, and with those who followed them in word and deed until the Day of Judgment.
And grant victory to those whom You have entrusted with the affairs of Your servants, and whom You have chosen to care for Your Book and the Sunnah of Your Prophet, and make him among those who are grateful for Your blessings and favors, our master, the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a glorious victory with which You strengthen Your religion, and raise the banner of Your allies from Your servants. O Allah, bless him with health and wellness and show him from his homeland and his people what pleases him and delights his eyes, and delight his Majesty with his beloved Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay El Hassan, supported by his happy brother, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, and with the rest of the members of the Sharifian Royal Family, indeed You are the Hearing, the Answerer.
And may Allah, with His vast mercy and great bounty and generosity, encompass the two glorious kings, our master Mohammed V, and our master Hassan II, O Allah, make their resting place good, and honor their abode, and place them in a seat of truth with You.
O Allah, we ask You by every name that is Yours, by which You have named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or have kept it in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Great Quran the spring of our hearts, the light of our breasts, the healing of our hearts, the removal of our sorrows, and the disappearance of our worries and distresses, O Lord of the worlds.
O Allah, have mercy on us with the mercy of the Quran, guide us with the guidance of the Quran, illuminate our hearts with the light of the Quran, and enter us into Paradise through the intercession of the Quran, and have mercy on our dead and the dead of the Muslims, and heal our sick and the sick of the Muslims.
Our Lord, give us from Your grace and prepare for us in our affair right guidance.
Our Lord, give us in this world good and in the Hereafter good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of glory, above what they describe, and peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
