HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The House of Representatives held a plenary session today dedicated to studying and voting on ready-made legislative texts, where the deputies of the Council approved by majority the draft law 56.24 related to the transformation of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Minerals into a public company, within the framework of continuing the reform of public institutions and strengthening their governance.
This project, presented by Laila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, aims to enable the institution to have greater flexibility in management and improve its ability to keep pace with the transformations that the energy and mining sector is experiencing, while enhancing its attractiveness for investment and developing its economic and financial performance.
The Minister confirmed during her presentation of the project that converting the Office into a public company constitutes a major lever for implementing the national strategy for energy transition, and contributes to the valorization of the Kingdom's natural resources, while preserving the role of the state in guidance, control, and ensuring the harmony of this transformation with the public interest.
