HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The competent authorities in the Mohammedia province have begun to empty approximately five percent of the load of the Oued El Maleh dam, as part of a proactive plan aimed at avoiding the dam being filled beyond its capacity, especially in light of the recent rainfall the region has experienced.
This operation was carried out in close coordination between various stakeholders, including local authorities, technical services, and engineers, where some dam outlets were opened to safely and controllably discharge part of the accumulated water, directing it towards the sea, ensuring the safety of water facilities and surrounding areas.
The competent sources confirmed that this measure falls within the adopted preventive measures for managing water resources and reducing the risks of floods, stressing that the situation is under continuous monitoring, and that the emptying operations are carried out according to precise technical standards that take into account the safety of the population and infrastructure.
