HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wahbi, revealed that the execution rate of real estate sales cases in Moroccan courts did not exceed 26% during 2024, despite the registration of more than 12,000 executive files presented to the judiciary.
The government official explained that the number of cases actually executed did not exceed 3,257, compared to the continuation of thousands of files in the execution phase, which reflects procedural and practical difficulties hindering the implementation of judicial rulings related to the judicial sale of real estate. Faced with this situation, Wahbi affirmed that the Ministry of Justice is betting on the digitization of execution procedures as a fundamental entry point to overcome these imbalances, through a new draft law for civil procedure that expands the powers of the execution judge and simplifies the procedures for seizure and sale by public auction. The project aims to reduce the number of auction sessions and adopt electronic platforms to carry out sales operations, ensuring transparency, facilitating access for bidders, and accelerating the execution process without the need to travel. The Minister of Justice stressed that these reforms aim to increase the efficiency of executing rulings, alleviate the burden on litigants, and build a faster and more effective justice system, capable of keeping pace with the digital transformation and strengthening confidence in the judicial institution.
