The executive office of the National Council of Notaries announced a comprehensive national strike for a full week, protesting against draft law number 16.22 related to the regulation of the notary profession.
A statement issued by the council stated that the notaries will suspend all professional activities throughout the kingdom, starting from March 2nd to the 10th, stressing that this strike constitutes a strong protest message to express the outright rejection of passing the draft law in its current form. The notaries considered that the proposed text does not align with the aspirations of the professionals and does not contribute to enhancing the stability and development of the national documentation system, as it includes provisions described as "unfair," because they do not take into account the historical and legal specificity of the notary profession, in addition to the absence of an effective participatory approach and the government's lack of interaction with the amendments and proposals submitted by the council earlier.
