Signs of tension are emerging within the anticipated leftist alliance project, called for by Nabil Benabdallah, after early disagreements surfaced between a number of its components, before its official announcement.
Negotiations had begun during the past period between the Party of Progress and Socialism, the Federation of the Democratic Left, and the Unified Socialist Party, with the aim of forming a unified leftist political front capable of competing with the major parties during the upcoming legislative elections. According to private information, the initial meetings that brought together the leaders of these bodies revealed a clear divergence of views, especially regarding the endorsement of candidates and the distribution of electoral districts among the components of the alliance. This point specifically sparked heated discussions, as each party insisted on a stronger presence in some districts that it considers to have electoral weight. The same sources indicate that the continuation of these disagreements may threaten the course of this political rapprochement, and may even lead to the stumbling of the alliance project before it officially comes out, which would reshuffle the cards of the Moroccan left before the upcoming legislative elections.
