HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Bank Al-Maghrib confirmed, following its first quarterly meeting for the year 2026, that the repercussions of the war in the Middle East have begun to appear tangibly in financial markets and on the prices of raw materials, especially energy, in a context characterized by an increase in the level of uncertainty at the international level.
The central bank explained that these developments remain linked to several factors, including the duration of the conflict, its scope, and its intensity, pointing out that the continuation of tensions would increase the volatility in global markets, especially with regard to energy prices. At the national level, Bank Al-Maghrib stressed that the repercussions of this war will not be without impact on the Moroccan economy, especially through the channels of external accounts and the rise in fuel prices, considering that the impact may remain relatively limited if the conflict is short-lived, but it may worsen if the crisis continues for a longer period.
