Taourirt…launches agricultural and rural development projects

Today, Thursday, in the region of Taourirt, agricultural and rural development projects were launched and presented, on the occasion of the glorious Throne Festival.
Thus, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohamed Seddiqi, who was accompanied, informed in particular the governor of the Eastern region, the governor of the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, Moaz Jama’i, the governor of the province of Taourirt, Larbi Al-Touijr, the president of the Eastern regional council, Mohamed Bouaruru, and professionals and elected officials of the ministry, on the regional slaughterhouse project of the city, which will be built on a total area of one meter. hectare (including 3,620 square meters covered), with a capacity of 5,000 tons per year.
With a total investment of 39 million dirhams, this project will modernize slaughtering practices in compliance with hygiene and food safety conditions, and improve the conditions and marketing channels for red meat, in addition to better promoting production and maintaining the added value of red meat in the sector at the regional level.
The project includes the construction of a stable for cows, sheep and goats, a veterinary control center, rooms equipped for slaughtering and skinning, rooms for cleaning and canning the entrails, another for cooling, a laboratory and other equipment related to the recovery of waste and filtration of liquid waste.
On the same occasion, the start of construction work on the weekly market in the city of Taourirt was announced for an estimated amount of 31.9 million dirhams, and two projects were examined for the construction work of the two weekly markets in the two local authorities of Taourirt. Laayoune, Sidi Malouk, for an amount of 16 million dirhams, and Sidi Lahcen (14.18 million dirhams), in addition to… Attend the opening of a commercial complex with an investment of 120 million dirhams.
With the local authority, the minister reviewed the rural road development program in the Taourirt region during the period 2020-2023. This program, whose total cost is estimated at 45.8 million dirhams, includes the development of 81 km of roads.
This program will help to bring the rural population out of isolation, facilitate the marketing of agricultural products as well as access to the necessary facilities and improve the living conditions of the population.
On this occasion, Mr. Seddiqi launched the preparation works for the rural road linking the national road 19 and the road leading to Ain Beni Mathar (province of Jerada), passing through Masid (province of Taourirt), over a length of 15 km.
This project, whose total cost is estimated at 9.9 million dirhams, will benefit 14 villagers and 1,300 farmers.
In a statement to the Arab Maghreb Press, Mr. Seddiqi stressed the importance of these projects which are part of the Green Generation Strategy (2020-2030), adding that these projects are implemented in cooperation with the various institutions and interests concerned, including workers in the Taourirt region and the Eastern Regional Council. These are structured projects for the agricultural sector, particularly related to the development of markets and the creation of new markets at the regional level.
In this regard, the Minister also mentioned the project to build the regional massacre of Taourirt, as well as the projects to develop rural roads that would contribute to breaking the isolation of a group of targeted farms and villages in this region, which is characterized by several natural qualities, stressing that these projects would have a positive impact on the income of producers and professionals, and would contribute significantly to stimulating the economic and social dynamism of the region.
