Youssef Amrani, the Moroccan Ambassador to Washington, affirmed that the long-standing strategic relationship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America is evolving today with a solid convergence of shared visions and priorities, supported by the will of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Donald J. Trump, to elevate bilateral cooperation to higher levels in all fields.

The Ambassador highlighted, before a group of experts and senior officials who gathered during a seminar organized by the "Investment Company Institute," a prominent global professional association representing the asset management sector and individual investors, that "His Majesty the King and President Trump share the same ambition: to elevate our economic relations to the same level of excellence that characterizes our strategic relationship."

Amrani explained that "the priorities identified today in Washington, particularly securing supply chains, strategic minerals, and reliable technological systems, are priorities that Morocco fully shares. This convergence is our fundamental starting point."

He added that relations between Morocco and the United States are a "eloquent model" of what long-term trust can yield, recalling that the Kingdom of Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States.

He pointed out that "our treaty is the oldest unbroken treaty in American history. This year, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our relations and treaty, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Free Trade Agreement, which is the only agreement linking the United States to an African country."

Speaking about the prospects for bilateral cooperation, Mr. Amrani mentioned that the U.S. Trade and Development Agency funded, last July, a preliminary engineering study for a green ammonia plant project in Laayoune developed by (ORNX Green Hydrogen). This project is expected to produce about 560,000 tons annually, supported by 900 megawatts of electrolysis capacity.

He explained that the U.S. Agency also classified Morocco as a priority market in the areas of strategic minerals, energy, and liquefied natural gas.

The Ambassador did not fail to remind that Morocco is the leading producer of cars in Africa and a growing hub in the aviation sector, in addition to the presence of major American companies on the ground.

Regarding His Majesty the King's Atlantic Initiative, aimed at facilitating access to the Atlantic Ocean for about twenty Sahel countries, the Ambassador explained that this endeavor brings together African countries bordering the Atlantic around their shared ocean, while connecting landlocked Sahel countries to the regional opportunities that an integrated space can offer.

He concluded that "this vision is based on tangible and ambitious projects, such as the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project that will cross West Africa from Nigeria to Morocco, reaching Europe."

This meeting was distinguished by the participation of Christopher Vilan, President of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, in addition to executives from major American asset management companies, including Vanguard, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Invesco, AllianceBernstein, Schwab, Neuberger, and Natixis.
