Local authorities in the city of Tangier have prevented a protest stand that the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Victory, Tangier branch, intended to organize today, Saturday, in 9 April Square, in the area known as Souk Barra, under the slogan "Popular Stand… The Sahara is Moroccan and Palestine is a National Cause."
According to the data in the organizer's announcement, the decision to ban came for security reasons, in the context of ongoing calls for protest against normalization and expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people in a number of Moroccan cities.
This decision comes amid ongoing controversy over the prevention of stands and gatherings called for by civil and human rights organizations in recent weeks, as activists and human rights advocates believe that these decisions affect the right to peaceful protest and demonstration.
