HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Zriouh
The headquarters of the Pasha office of Azgharghan in the province of Nador hosted, on Tuesday, October 14, 2026, an official meeting chaired by the city's Pasha in the presence of a representative from the commune, at the request of the Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights, to discuss the irregularities related to drinking water, the liquid sanitation network, and the quality of services provided by the regional multi-service company of the East (SRM).
The League presented a package of urgent demands from the residents during the meeting, foremost among them the acceleration of the expansion of the drinking water network to include deprived neighborhoods, and the programming of urgent liquid sanitation projects for underdeveloped areas, while warning of the serious environmental risks resulting from the continued discharge of wastewater into valleys and their direct threat to the water table.
The meeting highlighted the deep imbalances recorded in the performance of the regional multi-service company, represented by the disruption of citizens' services, the absence of regular distribution of bills and their sudden accumulation, as well as the high cost of consumption, the ambiguity of calculation criteria, and the weakness of complaint resolution channels.
The meeting witnessed the immediate withdrawal of the league's regional secretary in protest against the absence of representatives from the regional administration and decision-makers, and the meeting's purely formal nature; In conclusion, the League affirmed its commitment to continuing its human rights advocacy and its determination to formally correspond with the Governor of Nador province in writing to defend the rights of the residents of Azgharghan.
