FIFA plans to open a representative office in Morocco, as part of the Kingdom’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup.

According to the newspaper Le Economist, the new FIFA office, which is expected to open in Rabat, will include around 300 FIFA employees, who will continue to work from Morocco until 2030.

The aforementioned newspaper indicated that these employees, because they pay taxes in Switzerland, will not be subject to double taxation in Morocco.

This facility aims to encourage FIFA to establish its regional office in Rabat, and to promote the development of its activities in Morocco and the region.

It is expected that planned government measures will include the granting of comprehensive tax exemptions to FIFA, including exemptions from corporate tax, income tax, value added tax and fees registration, in addition to an exemption from withholding tax on stock market returns and similar income.
