The CNDP (National Commission for the Control of the Protection of Personal Data), the CDAI (Commission for the Right of Access to Information) and the OMALCED (Moroccan Observatory for the Fight against Defamation and Extortion) signed, this July 2024 in Rabat, a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening their joint efforts in four key areas.

- Combating extortion and defamation based on the misuse of personal data: The convention provides for “the establishment of joint action plans to combat acts of extortion and defamation based on the misuse of personal data. The aim is to protect citizens and institutions from abuses related to the unauthorized and malicious dissemination of their personal information and their constitutional rights to the protection of privacy,” it was indicated.

- Fight against fake news, promotion of the dissemination and access to information: The three bodies, “will work together to promote reliable and verified information, respecting the constitutional right to access to information. This includes the organization of awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at improving public and professional access to credible sources of information.”

- Training for journalists and professionals in the processing of personal data: The trio signing this agreement will organize “specialized training programs for journalists and professionals in the processing of personal data. These training courses aim to strengthen skills in data protection and to encourage ethical and responsible practices in the collection, use and dissemination of information,” it was argued.

- Creation of a national award: “A national award will be created to encourage institutions and organizations that meet the standards in force in terms of the protection of personal data on the one hand, and the promotion of access to information on the other. This award aims to encourage good practices in these vital areas,” it was concluded.
