Coinciding with the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Algerian Facebook pages published a photo containing the flags of African countries, including that of the “separatist Polisario”.
The publication coincides with the start of the Olympic Games in France, which this year will see the participation of 6,800 athletes from 205 countries.
A search for the image on search engines leads to its publication on the account X of an activist who describes herself as a defender of human rights and climate justice.
The account owner posted the photo on July 25, along with another photo of a building named after the Jordan Institute of Business Sciences – University of Pretoria, and said it was from her visit to the institute in South Africa.
Browsing through the institute’s accounts mentioned in the post, one can find a video clip published on Instagram in which a student appears in front of the same map with the flags of different countries of the African continent.
Digging deeper through the institute’s geolocation feature on Instagram, we can find a photo shared by a student standing in front of the same map bearing the flags of the countries of the African continent, among which was the flag of the “Polisario Front.”
South Africa is one of the countries that supports the Polisario, as we know.
