Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, affirmed today, Wednesday in Rabat, that Morocco renews its support for the stability of Mali and its sovereignty and national unity.
Bourita highlighted, during a press conference following a meeting with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landeau, that the stability of Mali is "essential" for regional stability, recalling that the Kingdom had previously strongly condemned the terrorist attacks that targeted Malian civilian and military facilities. He stressed that "Morocco condemns these attacks and considers them unacceptable, and they left many victims." The minister noted that the Sahel region is going through a "very critical" stage in its history, warning, in this regard, of the existence of "clear collusion between separatism and terrorism," which requires intervention by the actors concerned directly, whether at the regional or international level. He concluded that "it is essential that we be able to engage in counter-dynamics, based on stability and respect for the choices of peoples, where relations are built on cooperation instead of extortion and intimidation."
