This afternoon, the Moroccan Olympic team faces its Iraqi counterpart in the third match of the group stage of the Paris Olympic Games, in a group that has parity on points between its four teams, Morocco, Argentina, Iraq and Ukraine, with three points for each of them after two rounds, with each team winning and losing one match.
The qualification calculations remain complicated, especially in the event of a tie in both matches, since the competition regulations specify the following:
The winner and runner-up of each group of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualify for the second round, and in the event that two or more teams are tied on points, the following criteria will be applied:
First, the goal difference.
Second, the number of goals scored by each team.
Third, points in direct confrontations between equal teams.
Fourth, goal difference in direct confrontations between equal teams.
Fifth, the goals scored by each team are equal on points.
Sixth, deduct the fair play points as follows: Yellow card = -1
Red card after receiving the second yellow = -3
Direct red card = -4
Yellow card + direct red card for the same player = -5
Finally, in case of a tie in all of the above, a lottery is used.
