Radouane Jiyed, director of the National Technical Directorate of Refereeing, spoke about the possibility of adopting foreign referees to lead matches within the professional league, confirming that the matter remains possible within the framework of openness and cooperation between football federations.
Jiyed explained that Moroccan referees are in demand in many foreign leagues, pointing out that Morocco is also open to receiving foreign referees, within the framework of exchanging experiences and developing the level of refereeing. He added that the referee Farq had previously led an important match in the Tanzanian league at the invitation of the local federation, which reflects increasing confidence in Moroccan refereeing competence. The same official revealed that there was an official request from the Libyan Football Federation to use Moroccan referees during the play-off matches, but the pressure of competitions within the professional league prevented this request from being met at the present time, due to the intensity of the matches and the season reaching crucial stages. In the same context, Jiyed pointed out the existence of cooperation agreements with the Tunisian and Egyptian federations, where Moroccan referees led matches in the Tunisian league during the past season, within the framework of exchanging experiences between Arab federations. He also noted that the partnership project related to the organization of the 2030 World Cup may open broader horizons for concluding new agreements with major federations such as Portugal and Spain, confirming that the only problem that has hampered this matter during the current season is the lack of clarity in the match schedule. Consequently, the Spanish and Portuguese federations stipulate prior organization that may reach a month to provide referees.
