The United Kingdom affirmed its commitment to continue strengthening cooperation with Morocco, the country that is actively pursuing its development dynamic.
Fergus Haradens, Deputy Director of Infrastructure at the British Department for Business and Trade, said during a high-level conference held on Thursday, May 7, in London under the slogan "From Investment Grade to Large-Scale Investment: The New Dynamics of Capital Markets in Morocco," that "the United Kingdom is ready to play a key role in the development dynamic that Morocco is witnessing."
This conference was organized, within the framework of "Moroccan Capital Markets Days 2026" (London session), by the Casablanca Stock Exchange, with the support of the Moroccan embassy in London.
Haradens, who was speaking on behalf of the British government, stressed the importance of "Moroccan Capital Markets Days 2026" in developing and strengthening relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom, as well as in encouraging trade between the two countries.
He mentioned the launch of a comprehensive and ambitious strategic partnership between Rabat and London in June 2025, as well as the establishment of a strategic dialogue during which the two countries' foreign ministers identified a common ambition aimed at deepening cooperation in its diplomatic, political, security, economic, and cultural dimensions.
The British official considered that the Casablanca Stock Exchange is a tangible embodiment of the will of Morocco and the United Kingdom to continue strengthening their partnership.
He added that events such as "Moroccan Capital Markets Days 2026" "build bridges between our economies and our capital markets," reminding that relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom extend for more than 800 years.
He continued that the first trade agreement between the two countries dates back to 1721, noting that bilateral trade has been developing since then.
Haradens explained that bilateral trade reached a record level last year, "reflecting the mutual trust and common ambition between our two countries," calling for building on this relationship to achieve new record levels.
The British official stressed the need to "be determined to do more, because our economies are integrated."
He also expressed his admiration for the investments that Morocco has made in several sectors, especially the infrastructure related to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will jointly organize with Spain and Portugal.
He said, "The size and scope of Morocco's growing ambitions in the field of infrastructure are truly impressive, as they will not only contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens, but will also lead to a profound transformation," referring in particular to high-speed trains, world-class airports, energy projects, and sustainable cities.
On the other hand, the British official highlighted that Moroccan-British cooperation also extends to a strategic partnership in West Africa, considering that there are important opportunities available to the Moroccan-British partnership in the African continent, and confirming that the two countries are able to achieve more together.
In the context of this occasion, the same official announced that the British Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant, will lead, on June 2, a delegation of company representatives to Morocco with the aim of strengthening ties between the two kingdoms, which are united by centuries of trust and a common will to promote shared prosperity.
The 2026 session of "Moroccan Capital Markets Days" in London confirms the importance of this annual event that brings together financial actors in London and the Moroccan capital markets system around the various opportunities offered by Morocco.
This event has become an essential appointment for the Casablanca Stock Exchange, capital market actors, international investors, and Moroccan companies listed on the stock exchange.
"Moroccan Capital Markets Days 2026" highlights, in particular, Morocco's return to the "investment grade" rating, the market's record performance, as well as the launch of the first futures market in the region.
This event comes at a pivotal stage for Moroccan capital markets, as Morocco consolidates its position as one of the most credible and dynamic platforms for accessing African capital markets, following its return to the "investment grade" rating, the launch of "Mazi 20" futures contracts, as well as a year marked by exceptional performance in the stock markets.
