HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
In a scene that sparked a lot of interaction across social media, the president of the Drâa-Tafilalet region found himself at the forefront of the scene during the 61st edition of the International Exhibition of Aromatic Rose, not by announcing projects or presenting a development outcome, but by emptying a bag of roses inside a distillation machine, amid a prominent official and media presence.
The scene, which seemed simple on the surface, quickly turned into a subject of discussion on social media, as some considered it a symbolic expression of support for the aromatic rose chain in the region, while others saw it as an embodiment of reducing political work to showy scenes that do not necessarily reflect the size of the development challenges facing the region. Between this and that, questions were raised about the implications of this participation, does it fall within the framework of promoting a local product and evoking its economic symbolism? Or is it just a protocol moment directed at the cameras, used to highlight presence more than to provide concrete solutions?. In contrast, the real bet, according to followers, is the extent to which regional actors can turn such occasions into real opportunities to support the local economy and improve the conditions of the population, instead of settling for fleeting scenes that quickly end with the end of the applause.
