HIBAPRESS – I. El Smlali
The ancient city of Essaouira is preparing to regain its cultural brilliance with the launch of the 27th edition of the "Gnaoua and World Music" Festival between June 25th and 27th, reaffirming its position as a global capital for artistic dialogue.
The festival, which has become an international icon, opens its activities with a performance that brings together Maalem Mehdi Nassouli and the Rwandan band "I Bahoru," with the participation of Sarah Moula El Bilad and the Indian singer Kanavya, in a magical musical composition that blends the depth of African heritage with the vitality of contemporary creativity, reflecting the ability of "Tagnawit" to merge with various global cultures in a unique auditory experience. In this context, the festival continues to consolidate its philosophy based on artistic residencies and musical fusion concerts, where Gnaoua masters meet international artists from the schools of jazz, gospel, and African music, seeking to create a common musical language born from cultural exchange. The audience will be on a date with exceptional moments, most notably the anticipated meeting between the Brazilian star Carlinhos Brown and Maalem Hamid El Kasri, in addition to the distinguished presence of the artist Asmaa Lmnawar as a guest of honor at the concert of the famous bass player Richard Bona, thus making Essaouira a vast space that dedicates the values of tolerance and human coexistence through the language of music.
