HIBAPRESS
With Eid al-Adha approaching, complaints continue from a number of Moroccan citizens due to the rise in the prices of sacrificial animals in various markets and points of sale, amid widespread dissatisfaction with prices that many have described as "high" compared to the purchasing power of families.
A number of citizens expressed their displeasure at the large difference between what is being circulated on social media regarding lower prices, and the reality they face inside weekly markets and sheep selling spaces, confirming that the real prices are still far from the reach of large segments of Moroccans.
In this context, a citizen said in a statement to the newspaper "HIBAPRESS" that "cheap sheep only exists on Facebook," referring to the repeated talk about falling prices remaining, according to his expression, confined to the virtual world, without being reflected concretely on the ground.
Professional sources added that the prices of sacrificial animals vary from one region to another according to the breed, weight, and costs of transportation and breeding, which makes some sheep being offered at high prices despite the circulation of news talking about the abundance of supply this year.
This situation comes at a time when citizens are awaiting interventions that will contribute to controlling prices and alleviating the burden on families, especially with Eid al-Adha coinciding with other living expenses that weigh heavily on many Moroccan families.
