HIBAPRESS – Guercif
This morning, a serious traffic accident occurred on national road number 15, linking Guercif and Saka, following the overturning of a passenger bus within the territorial jurisdiction of Guercif province. According to initial data obtained by the newspaper from local sources, the preliminary toll resulted in the deaths of four people and injuries to 31 others of varying severity.
The accident caused a state of widespread alert among various security services, local authorities, and civil protection elements. Five ambulances and two vehicles for transporting the deceased were deployed to intervene quickly at the scene and transport the injured to the emergency department of the regional hospital in Guercif, while the bodies of the victims were directed to the morgue of the communal health preservation office in the city. The regional authorities and various security and administrative officials arrived at the scene, including the Secretary-General of Guercif Prefecture, the head of the Internal Affairs Department of the Prefecture, along with the head of the Saka command, the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, and the regional commander of Civil Protection. They monitored the rescue and ambulance operations and coordinated field interventions. The Royal Gendarmerie services opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to determine the circumstances and details of this tragic accident, which brought the issue of road safety and the danger of some road sections in the region back to the forefront.
