HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
In a sensational incident accompanying a fire that broke out in a shop used as a warehouse for party equipment in the Hay Hassani district of Casablanca, journalist photographer Ayman Al-Mugharbi, working with the "HIBAPRESS" newspaper team, was subjected to an unusual incident while covering the firefighting operation in the field.
According to what the colleague reported from the scene, the incident occurred while he was carrying out his journalistic duties in documenting the moments of intervention by civil protection elements to extinguish the flames, where he was surprised by one of the elements asking him at first to bring water, and after our colleague identified himself, he added, saying (You only know how to take pictures)! The same source added that the matter developed quickly, after the civil protection element, according to his narration, stripped the journalist photographer of his mobile phone that he was using to document the incident, in a move he described as "surprising and unjustified", especially since he was doing his usual professional work in covering a public event. This incident, according to the colleague's statement, caused widespread astonishment, and raised more than one question mark about the extent of respect for freedom of journalistic coverage in public places, especially during emergency events that take on a news character. This incident is expected to provoke interaction in the media and human rights circles, in view of what professionals considered "unusual behavior" towards a journalist photographer who was performing his field duties.
