HIBAPRESS – Ayman Al-Moghrabi
The "Ocean Spaces" area, belonging to the Ouled Azzouz community in the Nouaceur province, witnessed a state of discontent among a number of residents in recent days, following the removal of iron gates belonging to some residential complexes by the local authorities, led by the head of the Al-Saada administrative annex, according to sources on the ground.
The same sources reported that these gates were installed with financial contributions from the residents, with the aim of enhancing security and protecting property, especially in light of the residents' increasing fears of theft and acts of vandalism. They pointed out that a number of apartment owners belong to members of the Moroccan community residing abroad, who rely on these facilities to secure their properties during their absence. The sources added that the removal operation was carried out, according to their expression, "without prior notice or warning," which left a wave of questions and protests among those affected, who considered that such steps could contribute to weakening the sense of security within the residential complexes. In contrast, the operation also raised questions about what some sources described as "selectivity" in carrying out demolition or removal operations, as it did not include, according to the circulated data, some other residential complexes in the area. The residents are awaiting official clarifications from the local authorities regarding the background of these measures and the legal basis adopted in their implementation, especially in light of the ongoing debate about the balance between respecting legal controls and maintaining the security of the residents and their properties.
