HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ouldali
The Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance in Al Hoceima issued, in recent days, varying judicial sentences in a case related to drug cases and the illegal practice of pharmacy activities, in addition to charges related to the possession and transport of goods subject to fees and taxes upon import.
The court ruled to drop the public lawsuit related to the misdemeanor of possessing or transporting goods subject to fees and taxes against two of the defendants, after it considered that the legal conditions associated with this charge were no longer available during the stages of the trial. Regarding the remaining charges, the court convicted one of the accused with one month suspended imprisonment and an effective fine of 500 dirhams, after being prosecuted for possession and consumption of drugs. It also ruled against a second defendant with four months of effective imprisonment and a fine of 500 dirhams, against the backdrop of his involvement in cases related to drug trafficking. In the same context, the judicial body issued a sentence of two months of effective imprisonment against other defendants, with the imprisonment penalty being replaced by a daily fine of 100 dirhams for each day of the sentence, with the warning that non-payment will lead to the execution of the prison sentence.
