The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia signed a strategic agreement today, Wednesday, in Jakarta, concerning the mutual recognition of "Halal" certification between the Moroccan Institute for Standardization and the Indonesian Agency for Halal Product Assurance.
A statement from the Moroccan Embassy in Jakarta stated that the signing ceremony was presided over by the Moroccan Ambassador to Jakarta, Redouane El Houssiny, and on the Indonesian side by the Head of the Indonesian Agency for Halal Product Assurance, Muhammad Aqil Irham. The same source explained that this agreement provides a legal and normative framework that enables Moroccan professionals to comply with the new Indonesian legislation, which will require all imported products to obtain a "Halal" certificate starting from October 2026, indicating that this agreement constitutes a fundamental building block for a sustainable partnership aimed at intensifying cooperation between economic actors in both countries. By removing the technical barrier, this agreement ensures access for Moroccan products to the Indonesian market, contributing to the growth of trade in line with the potential of both countries. Mr. El Houssiny confirmed on this occasion that this agreement constitutes a major growth lever aimed at bridging the gap between the current level of trade and shared economic ambitions. This agreement constitutes a second stop within a fruitful diplomatic week, after the signing of a cooperation agreement in the field of health, yesterday, Tuesday in Geneva, between the Ministers of Health of both countries. The statement concluded that with the signing of these two agreements, the legal framework linking the two countries is strengthened with a view to benefiting from the potential for multifaceted cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia.
