A wave of anger has intensified among workers in the energy sector in Morocco following the publication of the Prime Minister’s Circular No. 08/2024, which specifies the implementation of the measures established within the framework of the social dialogue agreement of April 29, 2024. This publication is considered an unprecedented step backwards in the management of negotiations related to the claims files of users of public institutions of an industrial and commercial nature.
The Moroccan Labor Union expressed its strong dissatisfaction, referring to the initial agreement reached between the university and the General Administration of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water on February 14, 2024. In an official letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the Union demanded urgent intervention from the Ministry of Finance to implement what was agreed.
The message stresses the importance of adhering to previous agreements to ensure a stable climate of social dialogue and protect the rights of workers in the energy sector. The union stressed that the latest government circular represents a denial of previous agreements and threatens to reopen the door to social tensions within the sector, calling for a review of decisions aimed at maintaining social peace.
