Al Arwi Airport in Nador witnessed a qualitative leap in air traffic during the first third of 2026, as data from the National Airports Office revealed a significant increase in the number of passengers by 11.29 percent compared to the same period last year. The airport received a total of 349,112 passengers by the end of April, compared to 313,709 passengers during the corresponding period of 2025, supported by a strong performance during the month of April alone, which recorded an increase of 5.97 percent.
On the level of air traffic structuring, international flights dominated the scene with the lion's share, as the number of passengers on external lines reached 330,132 passengers, achieving a growth of 12.38 percent, while the movement of domestic flights witnessed a slight decline of 4.83 percent, to stabilize at 18,980 passengers. This momentum in passenger traffic was positively reflected in the movement of aircraft, which in turn recorded a significant increase of 13.75 percent, reaching 2,539 air movements by the end of last April.
These positive indicators for Al Arwi Airport confirm the pivotal role played by the air infrastructure in the region, and are in line with the general dynamics experienced by the air transport sector at the national level. According to official figures, the airports of the Kingdom of Morocco as a whole achieved a qualitative leap by receiving more than 12.3 million passengers since the beginning of the year, with a total increase of nearly 9.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
This continuous growth in air traffic at Al Arwi Airport reflects the strengthening of the region's attractiveness and the continued recovery in demand for international flights, which places the airport among the vital airports that effectively contribute to enhancing air connectivity for Morocco. This upward trend is expected to continue in light of the efforts made to enhance the absorption capacity and develop services at various Moroccan airports.
